Jonathan with US a cappella group m-pact

Jonathan How is the founder of Cafe Diplo, a social enterprise set up to engage in peacebuilding work in conflict areas. In early 2009, moved by the ravages of war and conflict in various parts of the world, he coined the phrase, "a people hardened by war can only be softened by grace." Holding firmly to the belief that one way out of deep conflict is the offering of unconditional grace and forgiveness to the “other side,” Jonathan endeavours to bring opposing sides together through music to encourage them to do just that.

Music may not be the panacea for war and conflict, but it is certainly one of the means for effective peacebuilding work. Café Diplo’s hope is that Grace Music Festivals around the world will be the catalysts for positive change in both conflict and non-conflict areas.
